Dr. Hodel is a visionary scientist and humanitarian leader, dedicated to advancing global health through chemistry. She is the founder and president of AIDSfreeAFRICA, a nonprofit organization committed to enabling pharmaceutical manufacturing in Africa, empowering communities to produce life-saving medications locally.
An award-winning chemist and dynamic public speaker, Dr. Hodel was honored with the 2025 Distinguished Scientist Award by the Westchester Chemical Society, a chapter of the American Chemical Society. Her work bridges science and social impact, with a focus on sustainable development and equitable access to healthcare.
Since joining Chemists Without Borders as a Director in 2025, Dr. Hodel has brought her deep expertise in nonprofit leadership and technical innovation to support collaborative scientific initiatives. Her dual roles reflect a lifelong commitment to using chemistry as a tool for transformation.
Dr. Hodel earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the City University of New York, Queens College, and continues to inspire through her advocacy, mentorship, and global outreach.
