Ray received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He worked in the semiconductor industry for eight years. The rest of his career has been spent as an entrepreneur, starting and managing companies. Ray joined Chemists Without Borders in September of 2014 as the Project Manager of the Bangladesh Arsenic Project.
Ray served as president of CWB from January 2016 to February 2021. During this time, two Rotary Clubs joined the Arsenic Project, the Shared Well project was started and funded, and collaborations with six biochar manufacturers were established for work on climate change. When Ray resigned as president of CWB, he continued as a Board Member. He also founded the Army of Volunteers for Earth, a nonprofit dedicated to combating climate change. Ray later founded Your Climate Network, LLC, a company dedicated to building a network of all the companies that work on the climate crisis and fostering collaborations between these companies. Ray lived for a year in Germany as a student and for five years in France when he worked for a laboratory near Paris.
Ray enjoys running and playing tennis. He is divorced, has two grown sons and twin grandsons.
